Which chain to top up from
The money that arrives is the same. What the blockchain charges you is not.
You can top a card up with USDT on four chains. The money that lands is the same in all four cases. What differs is what the blockchain charges you to send it, and that difference is larger than people expect on small amounts.
What each chain costs
Our own fee is three percent everywhere. On top of that the network takes its own charge, which goes to the blockchain and not to us:
| Chain | Network charge | Worth using for |
|---|---|---|
| BNB Chain | from $0.10 | Any amount, including small ones |
| Polygon | from $0.10 | Any amount, including small ones |
| Tron | higher | Larger top ups, or if your funds already sit there |
| Ethereum | highest | Only when the funds are already on Ethereum |
On a two hundred dollar top up the difference between the cheapest and the dearest chain is small against the amount. On a twenty dollar top up it is not small at all.
The rule in one line
Send on the chain your USDT is already on. Moving it to a cheaper chain first usually costs more than it saves, because you pay to move it and then pay again to send it.
The exception is if you are buying USDT specifically to top the card up. In that case buy it on BNB Chain or Polygon and send from there.
Two mistakes that cost real money
Sending on the wrong chain
The deposit address we give you is for one specific chain. USDT exists on all four and the addresses look similar, but they are not interchangeable. Funds sent on a chain we did not ask for may be unrecoverable.
Check the chain in your wallet before you confirm, every time.
Reusing an old address
Every top up gets its own address. An address from a previous top up is not watching for new funds.
What happens after you send
The amount is converted to US dollars and lands on the card, typically within minutes of the network confirming it. This runs automatically at any hour, so a top up at three in the morning is credited as fast as one at noon.
If you send less than the amount shown, the top up waits rather than crediting part of it. Send the rest to the same address and it completes.
