Terms & Conditions
What you are agreeing to when you open an account or a card with us. Written to be read, not to be skipped.
On this page
1. Who you are contracting with
CryptoCardex is a brand operated by IZIPAY Solutions Group, Suite C, Level 7, World Trust Tower, 50 Stanley Street, Central, Hong Kong. In these terms we call it "we", "us" or "CryptoCardex", and we call you "you".
By opening an account or a card you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not open an account.
2. What the service is
We let you open a prepaid card denominated in US dollars and load it with cryptocurrency. The card is issued by a licensed card issuer we work with, and is accepted on the card network printed on it.
We are not a bank. The money on a card is not a bank deposit, it earns no interest, and it is not covered by any deposit guarantee scheme. We are not an exchange and we do not offer investment, custody or lending services.
A card is a spending instrument, not a savings account. Keep on it what you intend to spend.
3. Your account
To open an account you give an email address and set a password. We do not ask for identity documents to open a standard account, which is explained in our AML and KYC Policy.
You are responsible for your password and for everything done through your account. Tell us at [email protected] as soon as you think someone else has access to it.
One person opens one account. Accounts are personal and may not be sold, shared or transferred.
4. Prices and fees
Everything we charge is listed below and on our pricing page. If a charge is not in this table, we do not take it.
| What you pay for | Virtual | Apple Pay | Physical |
|---|---|---|---|
| Opening the card, once | $49.99 | $59.99 | $459.99 |
| Every month after that | $0 | $0 | $0 |
| Topping up with crypto | 3% | 3% | 3% |
| Network fee on a top up | from $0.10, depends on the chain you send on | ||
| Paying online | Free | Free | Free |
| Paying in a shop | not available | Free | Free |
| Cash at a machine | not available | not available | 1% of the amount |
| Delivery of the metal card | not needed | not needed | included in the price |
The card price is a single payment. There is no monthly fee, no annual fee and no inactivity fee.
The network fee on a top up is what the blockchain itself costs us to move your funds. It depends on the chain you choose and is shown to you before you send anything.
A merchant, a bank or a cash machine may add its own charge or its own exchange rate. That charge is theirs, not ours, and we have no control over it.
5. Top ups and crypto
You top up a card by sending cryptocurrency to the address we show you for that specific top up. The amount that lands on the card is what you sent, less our percentage and the network fee.
Crypto transfers cannot be reversed. Please check the following before you send, because we cannot undo a mistake:
- The chain. Send on the chain we asked for. Funds sent on a different chain may be unrecoverable.
- The address. Each top up gets its own address. Do not reuse an old one.
- The amount. If you send less than the amount shown, the top up stays unpaid and nothing is credited to the card until the rest arrives.
We convert what you send into US dollars at the rate applied at the moment we process the top up. Crypto prices move, so the rate you see at the start may differ slightly from the one applied.
6. Using the card
The card works wherever its card network is accepted, within the limits shown in your account. A payment is declined if the balance does not cover it, including any amount a merchant holds in advance.
Some merchants check a card by holding a small amount before the real charge. Keep a little more than the exact price on the card, otherwise the payment is refused.
The metal card is posted to the address you give us and takes 7 to 14 working days to arrive. The posting is already included in its price. You are responsible for giving an address you can receive post at.
7. What you may not do
You may not use a card or your account:
- for anything illegal where you are, or where the merchant is
- to pay for weapons, drugs, counterfeit goods, child sexual abuse material or human trafficking
- to launder money, finance terrorism, or move funds you do not own
- to break sanctions, or on behalf of a sanctioned person or country
- to disguise the origin of funds, including through mixers or tumblers
- to test, probe or overload our systems, or to use them in an automated way we have not agreed to
We do not serve users in, or acting for, countries under comprehensive international sanctions. The current list is in our AML and KYC Policy.
8. When we can freeze or close a card
We may freeze a card, an account, or both, without notice, if we have reasonable grounds to believe that:
- the account is being used for something in section 7
- the funds come from a source we are required to investigate
- the account has been taken over by someone else
- a law, a court, our issuer or a card network requires it
When a freeze is lifted, funds remain yours and spendable. If an account is closed for a reason in section 7, we may be required to hold funds while we deal with the authorities, and in that case we cannot always tell you why.
You can close your account at any time by writing to [email protected].
9. Refunds and chargebacks
The price of a card covers issuing it and is not refundable once the card has been created, because the cost is incurred at that moment. The metal card is additionally personalised and posted, which is also not reversible.
A refund from a merchant comes back to the card it was paid from, under that merchant's own policy and timing. We cannot make a merchant refund you and we cannot speed one up.
Money on a card is returned to your account balance, not to a crypto wallet, except where the service explicitly offers a withdrawal. Where a withdrawal is offered, it is limited to what is actually available in the chain you are withdrawing on.
10. What we are not responsible for
We are responsible for running the service with reasonable care. We are not responsible for:
- a merchant refusing your card, or a cash machine refusing it
- crypto you send to a wrong address or on a wrong chain
- changes in the value of cryptocurrency before a top up is processed
- charges, rates or conditions applied by a merchant, a bank or a cash machine
- loss caused by someone using your password because it was not kept safe
- interruptions caused by our issuer, a card network, a blockchain or a force beyond our control
Where we are liable, our liability is limited to the fees you paid us for the service in question.
11. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms. The date at the top of this page always shows when they last changed. If a change materially reduces what you get, we will tell you by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Hong Kong. If something goes wrong, write to [email protected] first: most things are settled that way and faster than any other route. If we cannot settle it, the courts of Hong Kong have jurisdiction.
